Kaya Köyü
Kaya Köyü (Karmylassos) is set in the quiet, idyllic Kaya Valley, an unspoilt farming community. The old setting of the village dates back to the 15th century. Greek people lived here in piece under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, the name of the village in that time was Levissi. The about 4200 homes have been deserted since 1923 after a population change between the Turkish and Greek governments. The houses remained empty all since that time. A severe earthquake in 1957 damaged the houses badly. That is why the village is now called "Ghost Village". The old village has two orthodox churches and several little chapels. A beautiful walk through the village leads you over the mountain to the most spectacular scenery, you can discover the nature and wildlife that belongs to it.

Surroundings
Kaya Köyü is situated in the Fethiye area. In its far history it was in the location of Lycian and roman civilisations. There are lots of beautiful remains all around the area. Fetiye now is a charming harbour town, where visitors can enjoy the local food in the many bars and restaurants. The market day in Fetiye is a rare experience.

An old roman road leads from Kaya Köyü to Fethiye, taking about 1,5 hours to walk over the mountain through a cooling forest. The most popular walk which starts in the old Kaya village leads to Olüdideniz, a stunning lagoon with crystal blue water.

Another wonderful walk takes you to Gemiler Beach and St. Nicholas island, both used as a setting for some movies. This is the end of the peninsula where the Kaya Valley is situated. The beach is unspoiled, only a few locals run a very basic bar and restaurant.
